Originally scheduled to be released on April 13th, 2018, “The New Mutants” is the last film under the “20th Century Fox X-Men universe”. During their ‘Comic-con@Home panel a new trailer was premiered, along with story details, and a new release date.
According to filmmaker Josh Boone the film is loosely based on the classic New Mutants “Demon Bear” story line.
“The whole movie is about a curse, I guess”. Boone stated “The Demon Bear curse. I guess it’s possible. We’re just excited for the fans to see it.”
The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga, Blu Hunt, and Henry Zaga and is currently is set for Aug. 28, and the panelists noted their desire is still for it to hit theaters ā even if that date changes again ā addressing reports it would go to Disney+.
